The main culprit, other than long work hours. Not sure I can use photobucket at the moment, but facebook images seem to link ok.

SHE IS ADORABLE! And I see she's up and about! Congrats!

She's at that age where they chase their pointing fingers, huh?

I figure you guys deserve another "reason for delays" update.

So recently wife, baby, and I were recovering from a cold. Then I worked a week of mostly 12-13 hour shifts. Then I worked 2 more long shifts on the weekend (optional for a hundred dollar bonus, boss isn't evil just understaffed). That rolled into the next week, and by Tuesday I felt so oogy on the job I tried going home sick, but no one could take over. Had to work Wednesday too. Thursday work had settled enough that I was granted a day off, but it turned out part of that oogy was a flu. Then worked Friday and part of Saturday, somewhat rested but sick. So currently my creative juices are oozing from my nose, and making me cough.

Another delay was wanting to get in touch with Tala's creator so I could use accurate detail for her and the Cage family business. But he's turned hard to reach, so I'm just gonna invent my own details. To my knowledge I've skipped ever describing her previously, focusing more on the personality. She's a cross of incompatible species (hence a history of health problems) so she looks exotic, but I don't remember how exotic? So I'll interpret that she looks elven with a metallic sheen to her skin, probably way off but whatever. And I'll stick with Cage Industries, even though that's a bland ass name, and very similar to Helios Industries.

On looking back I'm not even sure you ever saw the original Tala, she might have only talked via your com devices. The new Tala, Tala Venus could look different on purpose.

Even non-evil-masterminds deserve to have Industries named after them!

Sorry to hear about the dificulties! Hope things settle soon!

Still here, just swamped. Sorry guys.

I'll just start the new chapter when I can. I'd wanted to get some chapter 0 material up first, but that content takes time/energy I haven't been able to muster.

Sorry again. I think I'm going through an extended period of burnout. I just haven't had the focus to write anything. Still dealing with long work shifts, childcare, illnesses, and lack of sleep. I don't want to let you guys down, and there is more story to mine. Some threads, not all of them player knowledge could turn into major story arcs. Hoping I pick up soon, as I'm not really doing anything any more outside the work-faffabout-sleep cycle.

One thing I have been dealing with as they pop up is spam accounts. There have been three or four new members recently that each posted new topics with dubious content. I blocked the posts and banned the accounts with confidence that I haven't accidentally blocked legit forum users.

Hey, we never figured why Helios was older in person than on TV.

When you first met him he was disguised as an older man. Makeup, acting, and such. He'd been in the public eye long enough that he had to pretend to age. He'd erased almost all public records showing his appearance, but he still needed to maintain a persona for business, and high society. He'd arrived at his lab in disguise when you raided it. He also played on your misconceptions in that first encounter, until he had the chance to escape. He barely spoke during the encounter feigning a raspy voice, until you left him alone and he started bellowing orders to Annunciata and his other slaves. I introduced the aged disguise due to the time gap between the New Orleans events and the game story.

When he surfaced again on TV he was advertising reverse-aging technology. So he had a perfect excuse to reveal his 'physical perfection' to the public. In the source material he'd been shown preening in front of a mirror, admiring the peak physicality he'd achieved. Even glorifying the mechanism embedded in his torso that kept him from aging. So he would have detested the necessity of making himself appear older and frailer when out in public. You can also imagine how much he would have raged when his new gene mods started rejecting those mechanical implants.

Likewise!

Had a rather grievous injury 3 weeks ago, required surgery, but I'm recovering. Still not really walking, but it'll come.

I'm still finding myself bereft of time and energy. I'm still hopeful of getting things back up and running at some point, but don't want to make a false start of it.

The forum now appears to have many members. The vast majority of which are actually banned spammers. Every now and then I get notifications that a new member has tried to post a thread or two in the Helios forums. Some not in english, some with links, some advertising porn, and other obvious dubiousness. Each time I reject the post, take note of the name, and permaban them, but the account lingers on the member list. I'm hoping the rest of you never even notice the notifications.

Still around, always available!

There should be a way to cleanse the banned users list. Of course, that might let them back in, too.

(Sigh) I'd written most of a post and accidentally wiped it. So this rebuild might be a little brusk.

How are you guys? I'm hoping you're both weathering the current events ok?

On the Helios front I keep wanting to get things going again, but it isn't happening. As time passes the ideas are getting stale, and I'm wondering if we should officially wrap it up? I could give feedback on the plans I had for book 2?

My days are still mostly long work days with a scramble to get everything else done on the day or two I get off. Typically I come home to take over childcare. Rose only sees me for an hour or so before her bedtime, so she doesn't tend to let me write or play games. By the time she's bedded, dinners been had, and so forth it's just about time I crawled into bed. I'm up later than I should be to write this. Things will change, but by the time they do the Helios story will be stale, and one or both of you will have moved on (if you haven't already).

I've renewed the domain and website for another year. So none of this is about to abruptly disappear.

Hey there! Sorry i took so long to respond - notification went to spam, and I'm lucky I caught it!

Back in December, I slipped on a a rather illegal ramp on the sidewalk, breaking my pelvic bone in 3. It took surgery, some titanium plates still in there and physiotherapy, but I'm walking again, albeit with a usually-subtle limp.

Other than that, things have been good, with most of the global perils passing us over. I'm still around, and ever eager to play - this game or another! Bummer to hear you've been overworked like that, hope things get better soon! And when you do need players to fill your time with whatever, I'll be here!

Also, feel free to contact me directly if I don't respond to a post here (probably because spam snatched it again). I'll PM you with my email address!
